Instructions on Decisions

Accessing the decisions

TATC publishes its decisions through Decisia by Lexum. These decisions can be accessed in the “Browse and Search Decisions” section of this website. Here you will be able to browse and search all Tribunals decisions published since 1986.

Description of the decision collection

There are two sorts of decisions rendered by the TATC: TATC Decisions and Medical Decisions.

The TATC Decisions collection contains all public decisions made by the TATC since 1986.

The Medical Decisions collection contains summaries of the decisions made on medical files. All of the documents filed in medical cases, including the decisions made by the Tribunal, are deemed confidential.

To increase access to justice, the TATC is making summaries of these decisions available to the public. These summaries do not contain any personal or confidential information.

Official Languages

TATC posts its decisions in both official languages in accordance with the Official Languages Act. However, because decisions need to be translated and published in both official languages at the same time, there is a delay between when a decision is released to parties and when it is posted on the Tribunal website. All efforts are made to ensure speedy and accurate translations of the decisions. You can request a public decision that is not published yet through our registry team at Registry-Greffe@tatc.gc.ca.

Downloading the decisions

Decisions are published in an HTML format and are available to be downloaded as a PDF. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader if you would like to view a downloaded decision.

Source and quality of the decisions published

Decisions published on this website are converted to HTML to enhance accessibility. All efforts are made to ensure that this a useful resource to the Canadian public. However, you may encounter conversion problems with some documents. If you discover any problems or would like the decision in an alternate format, please let us know.
